Truly Honesti Releases New EP called “Letters To You”

How did you start your creative journey?

I’ve always been into music since I was a kid. I remember when I was about 6 years old, I was watching the BET awards at my grandmas house, Mary J Blidge was performing and I remember thinking to myself that one day I was going to do that. Aside from music, I’m also really into fashion and I recently started my own clothing line called “Honesti”; it’s  mainly streetwear at the moment but I am planning to expand into the high fashion area within the next coming years in God’s willing.

When did you decide to take it to the next level?

All through highschool I wanted to start writing and releasing music but I was scared of what my peers would think. It wasn’t until I finished my first year of college and decided to release my first song “Know I” in June of 2019. I decided to release it at this point because I was over that fear of worrying how my peers would view me or if they would support me. Since the release of my first song, I have dropped 9 singles and a 6 song EP called “Letters To You”, the whole EP was mixed and mastered by my engineer Tingey along with a majority of my other songs.

What is your cause and your mission?

My cause and mission is all about being true to myself. Aside from being my middle name thats what “honesti” means to me. just putting your all into something and not being scared of the outcome or criticism that comes from it because at the end of the day if you did it with a pure heart and pure intentions at the same time, while being 100% true to yourself then that’s all that matters. This is something that I want all my supporters and fans to really understand and live by in their own lives as well even if it may be hard.

Have you accomplished any goals?

When I first started releasing music I had in my mind a list of goals that I wanted to reach. Since I was just getting my foot in the door, I didn’t make the goals too big. They were just simple things like “get my first 100 streams” and other small goals like that and I’m thankful to cross those little markers off! Back in February, I released a song called “Follow Me”, this was the first song i put out that gained a lot of attention…as of now it has over 30.3k streams. my next goal is to hit my first 50k streams and just continue to go up from there. Aside from streams I hope to get one of my favorite mainstream artists on one of my songs; Artists like Chris Brown & Drake, for example, the list goes on and on! I did secure a feature with one of my favorite independent artists “Elijah The Boy”, he is featured on my song “U Care”. That’s another goal I can cross off my list because I wanted to get him on a record for a minute and we finally secured it! One goal I’m still working on is building a solid team with other creatives, you know, with a couple more artists and a producer, photographer, etc. Also just building solid connections with other creatives in general.

What does the future hold for you?

I believe the future holds a lot of great things for me,such as more music, new connections, and just being at a higher level in my career than I am at this point in time!  In the past year or so i’ve been putting the work in to get where I am and I’m nowhere close to where I want to be even though at one point in time I prayed to get here, you know? I have put in so many sleepless nights, and tears, missed out on things, and even sometimes slipped into a depression trying to reach my full potential in my career. With that being said, you can expect to hear a lot more music from me in the coming weeks/months, along with some visuals, and collaborations with other creatives. As for my clothing brand, the fall/winter collection drops September 23rd! Be on the look out!

Mozzy, the Grammy Award-nominated lyricist has teamed up with artist BLXST yet again, for a new track “Streets Ain’t Safe.” This song is a part of Mozzy’s upcoming project Occupational Hazard, which will release on Sept. 22.

Earlier this year, both of them collaborated for the single “I Ain’t Perfect” from Beyond Bulletproof, which was Mozzy’s fifth studio album that was released in May. Several artists like Polo G, Shordie Shordie, and Eric Bellinger were featured in the project, which reached #43 on the Billboard 200.

EMPIRE artist Mozzy hails from Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood, and has become popular among music lovers after he featured in 2018’s Black Panther track. In 2019, Mozzy’s last solo album Internal Affairs was released. However, the same year, we also witnessed Blood Cuzzins, which was a collaboration album with Tsu Surf.

Even BLXST is quickly becoming popular not just in West Coast, but in other regions as well, as he is delivering smooth hooks and real lyrics. In the year 2019, he dropped a collaboration project with Bino Rideaux titled Sixtape. Very recently, he released a solo EP, No Love Lost, just last week.
