Jay Statz Releases New Single “Dripp & Gripp”

Jay Statz is an artist based out Flint Michigan. He has just recently dropped his latest single “Drip and Grip”. We had the chance to interview Jay.

How did you start your creative journey?

What it is, what it do, what it lookin like. It’s Topscale Jay Statz. I started when I was about 13 years old and was very into sports. I Never really thought much into business or even music. I feel personally it was more of a higher calling for me. Throughout the years that came to be more true as I developed more confidence while doing music & understanding the business and how to profit from it. At age 15 I started a rap group at my high school & began free-styling at football games. Funny enough I gave up the one thing I did love at the time, Sports. I started a new passion in music and haven’t stopped since.

When did you decide to take it to the next level?

I started taking my passion more serious in the summer of 2017. I had some big set backs. I was trying to find myself as a person & artist. It was like I didn’t know if I was moving forward or going back. All the pain and emotions I had basically pushed me to make a decision. It was either go all in or be done. I betted on myself and started to lay the ground work of who I wanted to become. And simply I’m being myself, expressing my true being over all
Just, Jay Statz.

What is your cause?

I want to make my music a outlet for anyone who may be lost or need questions answered. Overall my mission is to promote mental health awareness & generally be there to support those in need. I’m not perfect. I battle with depression after losing my mother to cancer in 2014. I know what it feels like to be in a dark place and each year that passes it gets no better.

I want to allow my fame and platform to make a gateway for those in the struggle no matter race or gender we are all humans and we need guidance in this life. I know won’t be able to save or help everyone. The goal is to least bring awareness to the problem and become the leader a lot of folks need.

What is your mission?

My overall mission it definitely to build a strong platform with my music & help bring a positive outlet that doing music wanting to make it a career can be possible. Use my examples and life experiences as a guideline tool or motivation. And simply just be yourself.

Have you accomplished any goals?

Yes! I have accomplished quite a few goals over the past few years. From owing my property’s to building a strong networking relationship with people. Working on finding my grove in the music.

And putting out great quality work.

What does the future hold for you?

The future for me is now! That’s how I see it. I go hard like it’s no tomorrow I push for a better today no matter how tired or draining it can be. The idea is don’t stop moving don’t stop working hard. As for the foreseeable future ahead I definitely see more goals being accomplished & me on a very high platform.
